Tested: Is CyberGhost a Good Choice for Netflix?
CyberGhost has improved significantly in recent years and is now an excellent choice for Netflix. We've tested it to determine exactly which country catalogs it can unblock.
At Flixboss, we regularly test the most popular VPN services on the market. Our objective is to create a reliable and honest database of VPNs that work with Netflix, including up-to-date information about which country libraries they can successfully unblock.
Founded in 2004, CyberGhost is among the oldest and most trusted VPN companies in the industry, known for their high focus on anonymity and their 45-day money-back guarantee.
- In our most recent test, CyberGhost unblocked Netflix in 10 countries (including USA, UK, Germany and France).
- Using CyberGhost, we gained access to 9,050 movies on Netflix, compared to
3,365without using a VPN - an increase of 168%.
- Using CyberGhost, we gained access to 3,396 series on Netflix, compared to
2,268without using a VPN - an increase of 49%.
CyberGhost at a glance
CyberGhost works really well with Netflix, as long as you don't need access to the Japanese library. It's also one of the cheapest options if you go for a 2 year subscription.
Test results: Netflix libraries unblocked by CyberGhost
Here are the latest test results for CyberGhost. To view the results from previous tests, use the date selector buttons. This can be useful if you want to see if a specific country is unblocked over a longer period of time.
We've also singled out and highlighted the 5 most popular Netflix libraries at the top of the table. These contain the newest and best titles, and in our opinion, are the most important ones for a VPN to be able to unblock. Most VPNs also have more servers available in these countries.

How we test VPN services for compatibility with Netflix
We employ a simple testing methodology, aiming to replicate the actions of an average user without
resorting to elaborate measures or complex solutions.
The VPN service being examined is installed on our Windows machine, and we use Chrome to determine its ability to unblock Netflix across a list of countries with a diverse collection of movies and series. This list, comprising around 40 countries, remains consistent across all VPN services that we test. For each country on the list, we establish a connection to the VPN and stream a movie or series from Netflix that is accessible in the tested country but not in our current location (Sweden). When Netflix detects VPN usage, we attempt to connect through another server within the same country, often multiple servers are available, or seek help from customer service. Countries where Netflix is successfully unblocked are indicated with a green checkmark, while those where it remains blocked are marked with a red cross.
Is CyberGhost a good VPN to use with Netflix?
Yes, CyberGhost consistently performs well in our Netflix tests. In our most recent test it delivered very good results, unblocking the streaming service in all the most important regions (US, UK, Germany, France), while it failed to unblock Netflix Japan. It also worked for many other countries, and gave us access to more than double the amount of movies and series compared to not using a VPN.
Since we first began testing VPNs in 2021, we have noticed that CyberGhost has significantly improved its Netflix unblocking capability, considering it could only unblock 4 - 5 international libraries at that time. That's a positive sign for the future, considering that VPN companies often encourage you to sign up for long subscriptions (2 years is not unheard of), and you want Netflix support to improve, or at least not get worse during that time.
CyberGhost offers a 45-day money-back guarantee and provides apps on multiple platforms and device types, while also being slightly cheaper on longer subscriptions than comparable VPNs, thanks to ongoing promos. For monthly plans, we would say the price is average, and it aligns closely with what ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and other top Netflix VPNs charge
Our opinion: For the majority of Netflix users, CyberGhost is a great pick. Only if you absolutely need to have access to the Japanese Netflix library should you explore other VPN options.
