Squid Game is returning for a third season, and if early comments from creator Hwang Dong-hyuk are anything to go by, it’ll be the darkest chapter yet. Following the events of Season 2, Seong Gi-hun’s quiet rage has curdled into full-blown resistance. He’s no longer just a survivor of the games but a man on a mission, targeting the twisted organisation behind them. The tone is expected to be more psychological, the violence even more calculated.

Netflix has confirmed a number of returning characters, including Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun, Lee Byung-hun’s enigmatic Front Man, and Gong Yoo’s recruiter with the world’s most threatening briefcase. There are new faces too, with Hwang hinting at fresh participants, expanded VIP storylines, and more complex mind games. It’s not just about physical survival anymore – it’s about what people are willing to believe in when everything falls apart.

Filming wrapped earlier this year, and while Netflix hasn’t locked in a release date, the streaming giant has made it clear that this isn’t just another sequel – it’s a pivotal chapter in what’s now a full-blown saga. Check out the official season 3 trailer below.
